New construction of a six-group daycare center. The central idea behind the new daycare center is to preserve the beautiful trees and thus integrate the building and the children into the existing natural environment. This connection to nature and appreciation of what already exists is reflected in our plan to construct the building using timber, thereby primarily utilizing natural resources. The single-story, U-shaped building encloses a shared courtyard with its three wings, which forms the heart of the daycare center. Not only is the courtyard accessible from the group rooms, but there are also visual connections between the rooms.
This creates a shared experience, a feeling of togetherness and inclusion, based on the floor plan alone. The east/south orientation of the rooms used by the children is of central importance in ensuring a high level of light penetration.
